Can I get an Actor Agent After One Class

by John Goxhaj

(Jacksonville Fl)

QUESTION:

I did a class in professional on camera. Now do I have to keep taking acting classes to become an actor or I can find an agent with just this class?

ANSWER:

Everybody is different. A lot depends on your age, natural talent and what you need to work on specifically, but usually one class in screen acting is not enough to be prepared as an actor. You need some basic acting technique classes before you worry about the camera and some experience on stage (the school’s stage is OK to start with).

There are always exceptions, of course, but usually acting agents don’t represent actors who don’t have any acting experience unless they are very young, have specific looks or a very unique special skill, so the best thing to do when you are starting out is to follow these steps to become an actor, take acting classes (or better yet, go to acting school) and start auditioning.
