QUESTION:
I’m only 16, and right now I’m on vacation but when I get home I want to pursure my dream into acting. I want to get into the film industry but the experience I’ve had is 2 plays in theater at my high school. I want to write a resume that makes me look auditionable but I don’t want it to be boring / dull. I don’t want to get into the industry right away, I would prefer music videos first as extras then big screen. Any ideas?
ANSWER:
You don’t need a resume to work as an extra, so if that’s what you’re interested in for now, just read about how to be an extra. If you’re under 18, you may need to get a work permit first, which requires your parents, doctor and school to sign off on. Just check with the Department of Labor in your area. I’m not sure until what age a permit is required.
BTW, you don’t need a resume to get background work, but you can’t put extra work on your resume, so if you want to have some interesting things to put on your resume, you should try to audition for student films (maybe there’s a film college nearby you can contact?) and independent films.
