The New York Conservatory for Dramatic Arts

Here you’ll find acting classes in New York that focus on acting for film and television. Julia Roberts and Matt Fox are among the alumni. During two years, the actor learns how to apply the Meisner technique to different mediums, from film and television acting to soap operas and commercials.

Career preparation: Actors learn the business of acting and some students participate in a filmed showcase before completing their acting studies in NYC. Each acting student is required to intern in the industry.

Degree: The program is the equivalent to 60-66 college credits accepted for transfer at over 1,700 universities and colleges.

Financial Aid: Grants, scholarships and loans are available.

What you’ll need to apply: Transcripts and a letter of recommendation. You also have to interview and audition for the 2 year program. The classes are open to foreign students.

Audition policy: Students are allowed to audition as long as it doesn’t interfere with their classes.
