Jacksonville University

This is one of the acting schools in Jacksonville that offers both a BA in Theater Arts and a BFA in Performance.

Classes include acting, movement, voice and diction, scene study, makeup and text analysis, as well as technical theater, theater design, directing, stage lighting and theater history. After being evaluated during their first year of studies, students are encouraged to pursue either the BA or BFA.

Students in the BA program can specialize in acting by choosing specific electives like Shakespeare or film studies.

BFA students take additional classes like voice, dance, music theater, audition technique, and dialects, and have to complete an internship and create a senior project to graduate.

Career preparation: Students have an opportunity to audition at 2 major theater conferences where they can find internships and employment opportunities.

Degree: BA in Theatre Arts, BFA in Performance.

Financial Aid: The school offers institutional scholarships, grants and loans on top of federal and state grants, loans and work-study programs.

What you’ll need to apply: Transcripts and test scores. A letter of recommendation and personal statement are preferred. Prospective students are strongly encouraged to come to audition at the acting school in Jacksonville but it is not a requirement.
