What can i do if i missed my callback?

QUESTION:

What can i do if i missed my callback? My phone acts stupid sometimes and i didnt hear it.

ANSWER:

Oh, no! The first thing is to get a reliable phone. Actors work too hard to get auditions not to know about their callback when they get one. You should also always have your professional e-mail listed on your resume as an alternate way to reach you (it also makes it easier for casting directors to send you new sides for callbacks).

In this case, I would try to call the casting director and explain what happened. You never know, maybe they really wanted to see you perform again and will arrange something, or maybe they have another round of callbacks you can attend. If that’s the case, make sure you give them a new reliable number when you go to your callback.

Of course, it may be too late for you to attend the call back, in which case all you can do is apologize, thank the casting director, and ask them to keep you in mind for future projects. As soon as you get a new phone, I would send a new headshot and resume to the casting office with a short cover letter reminding them about your previous callback and letting them know that this updated resume has your new number on it, as well as your e-mail. If it’s a busy office, you may want to write “updated information” on the outside of the envelope to make sure it’s opened.

I hope you get to audition for the part. Good luck!
