Acting Studio Chicago
Here you can take acting classes in Chicago inspired by Shurtleff’s method (described in his book Audition).
Students take 3 to 3.5 hour-long acting classes during 7 or 8 weeks. This acting school offers classes for beginners and advanced actors.
Classes are divided into 3 levels, culminating in intense scene and monologue work and auditioning training. Actors can also take a voice workshop and voice-over classes that include sessions at a recording studio, as well as summer classes in improvisation, cold reading technique, commercial auditioning technique, monologue and acting for the camera.
This acting school also offers an intensive 3-day summer camp and Chicago classes for teens.
Career preparation: This is one of the Chicago acting schools that offers a strong training in auditioning skills for the stage and the camera. Teachers at the studio are all working professionals. Actors can take auditioning workshops with casting directors. The summer camp weekend intensive includes a Q&A with Chicago acting agents.
What you’ll need to apply: New students are required to take the free introductory class. Students who want to enroll in the Level 3 acting class need to take Level 1 & 2 or get a special permission. Some advanced classes require a headshot and resume submission.
