Avoiding Meaningless hand gestures in monologues
Actors who find it hard to control their hand gestures while performing audition monologues will find this short video on the subject helpful. The idea is to develop hand gestures for your character so you can channel your nervous energy into character-building gestures instead of just moving your hands about for no reason. Try not to gesture without good reason, though, unless you can really make it a character thing, and avoid crossing your arms or choosing gestures that are limiting... and remember that sometimes being completely still can be very powerful! |
